Akasa Air Pune-Delhi Flight Suffers Bird Hit, Lands Safely In Delhi; Inspection Underway

Bird hits are an unfortunate but not uncommon occurrence in the aviation industry, often forcing flights to make precautionary landings. A recent incident involving Akasa Air was one such case. The airline’s flight from Pune to Delhi made a safe landing despite experiencing a bird hit. Read to know more details.

Akasa Air’s Delhi Bound Flight Experiences Bird Hit

On October 10, 2025, the Pune to Delhi Akasa Air flight (QP 1607) experienced a bird hit. However, no passengers and staff were injured. According to an NDTV report, the plane made a safe landing in the national capital, and the airline ensured that passengers and crew members were deplaned without any issues. To ensure the aircraft was not seriously damaged and to prevent any issues in the future, the airline declared that it will be thoroughly inspected by the engineering team before being cleared for service.

As per flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft landed in Delhi shortly after 10 am. Due to the bird hit, the same flight that was scheduled to operate from Delhi to Goa was delayed for a few hours, and another plane was arranged for the journey.

SpiceJet Lands Without Passenger Luggage

In a separate incident, on October 8, 2025, SpiceJet flight SG-12 flying from Dubai to New Delhi landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3. According to The Times of India, the flight, carrying 148 passengers, departed from Dubai around 12:00 PM. However, later, when passengers moved to the baggage claim area, they came across a shocking sight, there was not a single bag on the belt.

What appeared to be strange was that the conveyor belt was moving, but without any luggage. Initially, many thought it was just a delay, but after waiting for hours, they realised that something was wrong. Furthermore, the passengers became confused and frustrated, and they asked the airline staff about their respective luggage. To which they were informed that the aircraft was reportedly overweight. The staff added that all the checked-in luggage had to be offloaded before the flight departed from Dubai.

We are relieved that no passengers or crew members were harmed in the incident bird hit incident.
