Barbie designers and partners Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi passed away in a car accident in Italy. The incident occurred when an elderly driver, travelling the wrong way on the highway, collided with their SUV. The driver also lost his life in the crash.

Two of Barbie’s leading designers, Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi, were killed along with two others in a head-on crash in Italy on Sunday. Reportedly, an 82-year-old man was driving his car in the wrong direction on the A4 Turin-Milan highway, resulting in a head-on collision that tragically claimed their lives.

Barbie designers and partners Mario Paglino, 52, and Gianni Grossi, 48, passed away in a car accident in Italy on July 28. According to Italian outlet La Repubblica, four people died in the head-on car collision after an elderly man drove on the wrong side of the highway and crashed into the car carrying the designers.

The older man, identified as Egidio Ceriano, was also killed. He had, reportedly, travelled just 6.4 km in the wrong lane on the highway before causing the fatal crash. Reports suggest that both vehicles were travelling over 128 km/h when the incident occurred.

Barbie designers and partners Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi founded Magia2000 in 1999. Their company specialised in custom Barbie dolls that were mainly inspired by pop culture and modern art. They were also awarded the Barbie Best Friend Award for their contributions to the brand.

Their designs were renowned among collectors and fans of the doll worldwide. Some of their most famous designs include Barbie dolls inspired by Madonna, Cher, Victoria Beckham, Lady Gaga, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Tributes Pour In For The Duo

The sudden passing of Barbie designers is a profound loss to the world of design and creativity. Ever since the news of their untimely demise broke out, tributes for the creative duo have been pouring in. Mattel, the maker of Barbie, shared a heartfelt homage to them. In the statement, they added, “Barbie mourns the loss of two treasured artists whose work has forever shaped the world of dolls. Mario and Gianni, you will be missed.”
