Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially married! The couple, who have been together for nearly a decade, tied the knot in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11. According to India Today, their five children were also present for the intimate celebration.
Ronaldo made the happy news Instagram-official, sharing a photo of the couple’s hands showing off their new wedding rings. The wedding also marks exactly one year since Rodríguez announced their engagement on Instagram on August 11, 2025.
The intimate ceremony comes after a rather amusing wedding mix-up in Madeira, Ronaldo’s hometown. Days before the wedding, rumours claimed the couple would say ‘I do’ at Funchal’s S Cathedral, prompting hundreds of fans to gather outside. However, the bride who arrived at the cathedral turned out to be Nicole, who was there to marry her partner, Fabio.
Ronaldo seemed to take the confusion in good humour, reacting to a social media post about the mix-up with a string of laughing emojis.

From A Madrid Store To Forever: The Couple’s Love Story!
Ronaldo first met Georgina Rodríguez in 2016, when she was working at a Gucci store. Georgina has described their first encounter as “love at first sight”, saying his presence and the way he treated her immediately caught her attention. The two later reconnected at another brand event, where they got a chance to spend more time together.
According to NDTV, the couple initially kept their relationship private, but it wasn’t long before they were spotted together. By the end of 2016, they were photographed at Disneyland Paris, with Ronaldo trying to stay under the radar in a wig and sunglasses. In Georgina Rodríguez’s Netflix series I Am Georgina, Ronaldo opened up about how their relationship took him by surprise. What started casually soon turned serious, with the footballer admitting that he eventually realised Rodríguez was “the woman of my life.”
