“Gajar Halwa Felt Like Biji’s,” Chef Vikas Khanna Praises Priyanka Chopra’s Brother’s Cooking

We truly believe that food is more about emotions than just spices and ingredients. The joy a homemade meal brings to the heart and soul is something no Michelin-starred restaurant can replicate. And from the looks of it, Chef Vikas Khanna agrees with us. He was recently hosted for a meal by Priyanka Chopra’s brother, sister-in-law, and mother in Mumbai, and by all accounts, he had a gala time.

During his recent Mumbai visit, Chef Vikas Khanna was invited to a wholesome meal by Priyanka Chopra’s brother, sister-in-law, and mother. He took to his social media to thank Dr Madhu Akhouri Chopra for hosting him and Siddharth Chopra for cooking a delicious meal for him.

He added in the caption that Siddharth had promised to cook for him “when he visited with the amazing Neelam”. The chef said it was “one of the best meals” he has had in a really long time. It was a nostalgic and flavour-packed meal for the chef that he surely won’t forget for a long time!

So, what was on the menu? In his post, Vikas Khanna shared, “After years, I tasted Gajjar Halwa that felt exactly like my Biji’s—the kind that doesn’t just feed you…it returns you to your childhood.”

Coming to the next dish, the chef beautifully added, “The Dal Bukhara was a healing hug from an elder in the family. The Kharode Curry was perfection—spot on, like the warmth of Kolkata’s Nalli Kosha. And that Makki Roti… softer than the ones I’ve eaten on Punjab highways in winter. I can’t even write about 5 Greens Saag without getting emotional.”

For him, it wasn’t just the main course, even the homemade chaat masala and pickled onions brought back waves of nostalgic memories and familiar flavours.
