Good news for travellers! Uzbekistan, a country in Central Asia, has now announced 30 day visa-free entry for Indian citizens. The announcement was made by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tashkent. Here’s why this news matters for tourists.
Uzbekistan Announces Visa-Free Entry For Indians
Uzbekistan is one of those budget-friendly international destinations with a rich history, and many travellers looking for new experiences visit it. Now, a holiday to this country is set to get a lot easier for Indian passport holders. According to Moneycontrol, Uzbekistan has introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens.
The announcement was made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day state visit to Uzbekistan and his delegation-level talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. The two countries also agreed to elevate their relationship and set a target of $5 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.

New Rule To Boost Tourism Between India & Uzbekistan
According to The Economic Times, there are also 14 direct flights between India and Uzbekistan every week. This new visa-free rule will help boost tourism, business exchanges and develop a closer relationship between the two countries.
The Uzbek President also underlined the contribution of cultural institutions such as the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture and Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Indian Studies in strengthening ties between India and Uzbekistan. The philosophy and practice of yoga were also discussed, as Uzbekistan has had a dedicated Yoga Federation since 2018.
This visa-free entry into this country means that Indians can now explore the old Silk Road cities, see the blue-tiled buildings, and try local food like Plov, which is its national one-pot rice dish made with meat, vegetables and warm spices a lot easily. This country is also known for its large, busy outdoor markets selling spices, fruits and handmade crafts.
