From winning hearts on MasterChef India to running one of New York’s most beloved restaurants, Bungalow, his journey has been nothing short of remarkable. On November 14, the chef turned 54, and to make the occasion even more special, his mother and sister-in-law flew to New York. Here’s a glimpse of how he celebrated his big day.
Inside Chef Vikas Khanna’s 54th Birthday Celebration
Vikas Khanna’s New York restaurant, Bungalow, often makes headlines for its incredible food, long waiting lists, and the chef’s thoughtful gestures for celebrity guests like Madhuri Dixit and Priyanka Chopra. The chef rang in his birthday at Bungalow itself, joined by his mother, Bindu Khanna, and his sister-in-law, both of whom flew all the way to New York just to celebrate with him.
The chef also shared the picture of him with his mother and sister-in-law with the caption, “Top of the World to celebrate 54th Birthday with Maa & Bhabhi. They both flew into New York for this moment.” Can we just take a moment to appreciate the simple and small birthday celebration that screams nothing but love!

Ditches Cake For Halwa
When it comes to birthdays, most of us expect a cake-cutting celebration. But Vikas Khanna decided to go the traditional way. Instead of a fancy two-tier cake, the chef chose a delicious aata ka halwa. He shared that in his family, it has been a long-standing tradition to celebrate birthdays with halwa.
This year, as the chef celebrated his birthday in New York, and his team at Bungalow made it possible by preparing a mouth-watering halwa. The dessert was served in a large bowl, with lots of candles adding the perfect birthday vibe to the halwa. The halwa was also topped with nuts like cashews, and looking at the pictures, we must say it’s definitely left us drooling.
