Cruise travel is becoming very popular, offering travellers the comfort of staying on a ship surrounded by open waters, luxury rooms, and, of course, delicious food. However, Costa Cruises has now introduced a new update regarding buffet food. As per the new rule, there are changes in how passengers can take food from the buffet. Read to know!
Costa Cruises Introduces New Rule On Buffet Food
Costa Cruises has introduced a new policy that could charge passengers if they take buffet food back to their cabins. As per NDTV, guests may have to pay a cleaning fee of around €60 (₹6,679) if they carry buffet items outside the designated dining areas. The new rule has already started gaining attention.
Why did the cruise line introduce this new rule? The cruise line says the main reason behind this step is to maintain better hygiene on board. With this, they want to avoid food spills, reduce health risks, and keep pests away from cabins and common areas. Officials believe that keeping a check on how food moves around the ship can help keep things cleaner and more organised during long journeys at sea.

In Which Cabins Room Service Is Still Available?
Not taking buffet food to the room doesn’t mean room service is cancelled. NDTC reported that Costa Cruises has clearly said that room service is still available, but there’s a twist. It is only for suites and premium cabins. The food is delivered by trained staff who follow strict sanitation and hygiene protocols.
Costa Cruises is based in Genoa and operates across European routes, including ports in Italy, Spain, and France. The new rule is already in action and have already triggered discussion among frequent cruise travellers. While some people have supported it, others have highlighted the challenges. According to them, limited buffet hours or extra charges for room service can make it harder for them to get food when they actually need it.
