Vietnam has long been a favourite destination for international travellers, with many returning multiple times. Now, visiting is even easier thanks to the expansion of its electronic visa (e-visa) system. This move simplifies entry, speeds up immigration, and supports tourism. Scroll down to learn more.
Vietnam Expands E-Visa System
Vietnam has just made it much easier for international visitors to enter the country by expanding its e-visa system. According to Travel and Tour World, the government recently approved 41 new international checkpoints, raising the total from the current 42 to 83. The new e-visa update is part of Resolution 389/NQ-CP, which adds to the earlier Resolution 127/NQ-CP, which was introduced in August 2023.
These rules show which airports, land borders, and seaports travellers can use with an e-visa. They are also part of Vietnam’s bigger plan to make the country a top pick for both travel adventures and business in Southeast Asia.

More About This Expansion
With this expansion, travellers can now use the e-visa at four airports, 11 land border gates, and 26 seaports. Long Thanh and Gia Binh International Airports will implement the e-visa system once they open, while Vinh and Chu Lai airports are already welcoming travellers, according to Travel and Tour World. With airports like Vinh and Chu Lai, travellers can fly straight to the heart of the country, discovering hidden gems like historic sites, charming coastal towns, and scenic nature spots in Vietnam.
Another highlight of this expansion is that visitors can now enter by road from neighbouring countries. They can also arrive on cruise ships and ferries. We can say that from now on, visitors have more options and don’t have to stick to the busy hubs like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Da Nang.
