He didn’t just win casually — he secured over 1.45 million votes in total turnout, which was higher than the 2021 election. Latest numbers showed Mamdani at around 44%, which clearly placed him ahead of former governor Andrew Cuomo. This strong margin confirmed that New Yorkers trusted him to lead the city next.
