The locals of this place are unhappy with this development decision.

According to the plans of the project, this location is going to have cafes, washrooms, changing areas, and more, as reported by TimeOut. The Turkish government is taking major steps to establish Phaselis as a great location for vacation.

Locals Are Not Impressed With Government’s Transformation Plans For This Ancient Site

Phaselis is an undiscovered ancient city for tourists. Even in 2023, the natural beauty is kept intact here. The idea of developing and transforming this ancient city into a holiday location is not impressing the locals. In fact, many are criticising the plan as they are concerned about restoring the natural aura and historical significance of Phaselis. Not just locals, but archaeologists are also tensed about this decision.

The TimeOut report also states how they are worrying over the fact that transforming Phaselis can lead to developing more such ancient sites into holiday destinations. Turkey is currently dependent on the travel and tourism sector in these times of major inflation. To revive and boost tourism here, the government is taking many steps to develop locations and attract tourists.
