Azerbaijan Airlines Plane Crash Kills 38 People
Azerbaijan Airlines’s Embraer 190 plane, en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan on December 25. According to The Times of India, the aircraft had flown hundreds of miles off its scheduled route to crash on the opposite shore of the Caspian Sea. The crash happened near the airport, in an open field. Visuals surfacing on social media show the plane roughly hitting the ground and bursting into flames immediately.

It shows the pilot trying to save the flight and then crashing in a fireball where miraculously close to 30 of the 67 aboard reportedly survived.

The Azerbaijan Airlines flight reportedly took several circles and requested an emergency landing before the crash. According to the preliminary report, Russia’s aviation watchdog believes that the crash was caused by a bird strike. So far, 38 casualties have been reported in this incident.
Ambulances and concerned authorities were seen on the crash site. As per the latest report, 32 people have been rescued. They were able to de-board from the emergency exit located at the rear end of the aircraft.

More Details About The Incident
As per reports, the pilots of Azerbaijan Airlines’s plane transmitted a distress signal before the crash. So far, it is believed that the crash was caused due to a collision with a flock of birds and a steering malfunction. As per Kazakhstan’s transport ministry, 37 passengers on the plane were from Azerbaijan, 6 from Kazakhstan, 3 from Kyrgyzstan and 16 from Russia.
FlightRadar24 showed data that shows that after requesting an emergency landing, the Azerbaijan Airlines crashed near the Caspian Sea shore at 6:28 AM UTC (11:58 AM). It landed just a few kilometres away from the airport and was exposed to “strong GPS jamming, which made the aircraft transmit bad ADS-B data.”
