The holy month of Ramadan is just knocking at our doors and there are a few changes that are being introduced for the month. These changes are especially about the reduced working hours for public sectors. Yes, there was an update that has been announced by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources for the public sector. Here’s more on this.
Public Sector Working Hours Revised
With Ramadan nearly here, employees who are in the ministries and Federal government entities are in for reduced working hours. Yes, they will be working from 9 AM to 2:30 PM from Monday to Thursday. While on Fridays, this will be from 9 AM to 12 PM. However, an exception for this will be people whose work requires otherwise. Moreover, authorities have also announced flexible work regulations.
For this purpose, it will continue to be implemented in such a way that the approved daily working hours allow employees of certain entities to work even remotely. This will be possible on Fridays during Ramadan. Moreover, flexibility is permitted for up to 70% of the total workforce and no such announcement has been made for private sectors yet.
A Month Of Charity
In case you’re wondering about the dates of Ramadan, it is expected to start on March 1, 2025. However, this will only be possible if the crescent moon for the month of Ramadan is sighted on February 28, Friday. This means that Ramadan is likely going to begin on Saturday, otherwise it will begin on Sunday. Keeping up with the spirit of Ramadan, which lays emphasis on kindness, and charitable initiatives, people try their best to do something good for society.
It’s not a secret that Suhoor and Iftaar, are major parts of one’s day during this month and residents donate food in the mosques across the neighbourhood. Sadqah or charitable giving throughout the month can be done in a variety of forms. While distributing of the meals without permission is illegal, residents can do so by getting permits and through licensed platforms. Yes, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities department allows people to donate meal kits and even set up distribution in tents if they wish to donate Iftar means.
