The glow on kids’ faces is different when you go to drop or pick them up from school. But as working parents, we know it becomes challenging to do it daily. So UAE Government has thought about this situation and ordered flexible hours for working parents. This initiative is to give them time to drop off or pick up their kids from school and not miss out on the kid’s childhood.

UAE Government Announces Flexible Working Hours For Parents

The Federal Authority For Government Human Resources in the UAE has recently introduced a new policy. It grants flexibility to government staff with children. It allows them to accommodate the school week routine. This initiative aims to assist parents in effectively managing their work and family commitments. On the inaugural school day, a total of three hours is sanctioned for school drop-off and pick-up.

Flexible working hours provide invaluable aid to working parents. It enhances their ability to navigate both professional and parental obligations. The youngsters are presently on their summer hiatus, slated to resume studies on Monday, August 28. Following the summer break, the subsequent vacation for school-going children will be the winter recess, commonly referred to as the Christmas holidays. Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has officially affirmed the dates for the forthcoming academic year.

  1. The academic year starts:   August 28, 2023.
  2. Start of the winter break: December 11, 2023.
  3. Winter break is complete, and classes start: January 2, 2024.
  4. Spring break starts:  March 25, 2024.
  5. Resumption of classes after spring break: April 15, 2024.
  6. The academic term must conclude no earlier than June 28, 2024.

These choices empower parents to attend to their children during morning and afternoon hours, negating the necessity for supplementary childcare expenses. It should be focused on encompassing flexi-time, annualized hours, compressed hours, staggered hours, job sharing, remote work, and part-time employment.
