UAE Applies Stricter Curbs For Passenger & Charter Flights From India & Other Restricted Countries

UAE is doing everything it can to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country. And after extending the flight ban, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has issued a new list of stricter protocols for charter flights arriving from restricted countries. As per the update, passengers arriving from India, Pakistan and other restricted countries will have to wear mandatory tracking devices for at least 10-days.

The Stringent Rules Apply To Aircraft Operators Handling Flights From India, Nepal, Pakistan And Other Countries

In terms of the rules, the stringent rules apply to aircraft operators handling flights from and to the UAE and the following countries: Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Zambia. Travel agencies and charter flights have also been informed about the same rules. Wristband tracking devices are given to passengers arriving in Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. As per the reports in Khaleej Times,

“The UAE government is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates and instructions as necessary.”

PCR Test And 10-Day Quarantine For Both Passengers And Crew Is A Must 

Besides tracking device, a 10-day compulsory quarantine, PCR test on arrival followed by two other PCR tests on the fourth and eighth day of their isolation period is a must. Not only passengers, but the rules are also applicable to crew members operating from other countries. Passengers must also quarantine themselves in a hotel during the whole transit period.

The GCCA approval process is extremely stringent and aims to curb the spread of the virus while ensuring covid safety. The circular, which was accessed by Khaleej Times, also states that all arrivals are subject to the immigration conditions in the UAE, and the approval of (NCEMA) must be obtained for unscheduled and charter flights.
