UAE Folks, This Is Your Last Chance To Catch A Partial Solar Eclipse This Year

On October 25, UAE citizens will be able to witness the second and last partial solar eclipse of 2022. Depending on the cloud cover, the eclipse will be visible across regions of Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. So keep your telescopes ready and witness the last solar eclipse of 2022. Well, read on to know more.

When Can You Witness The Solar Eclipse In UAE?

The maximum solar eclipse will occur on October 25 at around 3.52 p.m. local time. The moon will fully cover only a segment of the sun during this partial solar eclipse, as viewed from Dubai. Experts emphasised that it is never safe to stare directly at the sun without a protective solar screen, regardless of how much or how little it is veiled. Viewers must put on solar or eclipse glasses to see the sun.

What Is Partial Solar Eclipse Phenomena?

A partial solar eclipse occurs when the moon moves in front of the sun and the earth, briefly obstructing some of the light. Solar eclipses may occur only under a new moon, when the moon passes directly between the earth and the sun, producing a straight line between the three celestial bodies. The four types of eclipses are complete, annular, hybrid, and partial.

Because the sun and moon are not precisely aligned, and the sun is shaped like a crescent, the moon does not completely block out the sun during a partial eclipse. As a result, the penumbra of a solar eclipse, but not its umbra, touches the planet.

The penumbra is the region where the occluding body only partly obscures the light source. Thus viewers in the penumbra may see partial eclipses. The deepest and darkest part of a shadow is called the umbra.
