It’s no secret that students will be returning back to the school for a new session on August 28. After two months of a long break, traffic is expected to be a lot on the roads, considering students wouldn’t want to miss their first day. And to ensure there is utmost safety observed on the road, the UAE’s Ministry of Interior has announced that they will be observing an accident-free day, which will let people knock four negative points from the record if they drive safely throughout the day.

Do you have negative traffic points on your driver’s license? Well, if your answer is sadly, a yes, then you are in for some brilliant news as you have a chance to knock some points off! Yes, we say this because recently, the UAE’s Ministry of Interior announced on August 21, Monday, that people who will drive safely on the first day of the new academic year can get four negative points deducted from their records. Going by the report of Khaleej Times, it was revealed that Federal Traffic Council says this move is a part of MoI’s Accident-Free Day innitiative. In case you weren’t already aware, this initiative will be marked on August 28, since thousands of students will be making their way back to school after a two-month-long summer break.

How Can You Get These Points Deducted?

In case you didn’t already know, negative points are penal measures that are imposed on motorists for serious traffic violations. And once the driver accumulates 24 negative points, their license is suspended. If you are also wondering about how to make use of the deduction, motorists will first have to take a pledge on the website of the MoI to drive safely on the first day of school. After this, they shouldn’t commit any traffic violations or cause any accidents throughout the day. Yes, it’s as simple as that! In case you didn’t already know, UAE’s Ministry of Interior has collaborated with local police authorities for a nationwide campaign called a Day Without Accidents to boost road safety.
