What Else?

The telecoms regulator in the UAE, has announced that some video calling applications will now be available and working. The Telecommunications regulations authority (TRA) have released a number of video calling applications that are now working. In light of the Coronavirus and the quarantine, the TRA have tried to help you stay close and connect to loved ones around the world.

Below are the applications permitted by the TRA to be used in the UAE

  • Skype
  • Google hang out
  • Microsoft teams
  • Zoom
  • Blackboard (educational platform)
  • Voico UAE (only for Du users)

Both Skype and Google hangout can be used on fixed line internet networks. However, Microsoft teams, zoom, and blackboard can all be used on both fixed line internet networks, and mobile phones. And of course we have Voico UAE for both desktops and phones, but only for Du plan users. Once again, all of this is temporary, and will only last till May 20th for now. The time period may be extended, depending on the length of the period of home isolation and quarantine.
