UAE to Open Land, Sea And Air Borders With Qatar From Today

Starting today, the UAE has opened air, land and sea borders with Qatar. After the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE has now decided to restore ties with Qatar since June 5, 2017. It follows the signing of the Al Ula Statement on Tuesday at the GCC summit in Saudi Arabia. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

From Today All Incoming and Outgoing Mode Of Transport Will Reopen To And From Qatar

Khalid Abdullah Belhoul, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, said on Friday that the UAE would hold bilateral talks to end all measures taken about Qatar. He further added from today, January 9, the nation will be opening all land, sea and airports for incoming and outgoing transport and that the relevant authorities in the UAE are instructed with these measures.

Qatar Is Now Flying Through Saudi Arabia Airspace From Thursday Night

In a bid to strengthen the unity and cohesion of the Gulf, this step is taken. On Friday, the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority said that scheduled and unscheduled flights between Qatar and the Emirates would resume on Saturday, which is today. As for Qatar, the nation restarted flights through Saudi Arabian airspace on Thursday night.

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash said that such pragmatic measures would soon be introduced to restore travel and trade links with Qatar. He further added, “We expect to move very quickly on other issues”, including the reopening of embassies and consulates.

Dr Gargash described the agreement signed in Al Ula on Tuesday as “strategic”.

“The UAE is behind this deal, positive about re-establishing relations with Qatar within the GCC context,” Dr Gargash said on Thursday.
