FREE Drive-In Cinema Set To Open In Sharjah On 1 July

Starting 1 July, Sharjah will have a new drive-in cinema offering nightly movies for free on a first-come first-served basis. The cinema house will be located in Muwaileh district and will span 2.2-square-kilometre. Entry will be free to enter on a first come, first served basis. The new cinema can hold up to 150 vehicles per night. Movie Nights at Aljada will kick off with ‘The Avengers’, scheduled for 8 pm on 1 July.

The new family-friendly entertainment destination opened in February this year. The space also has event halls, an amphitheatre, a children’s adventure zone and a skatepark. Movie Nights at Aljada will be available for movie buffs at 8 pm every night. Visitors will be allotted specific parking spots, from where they can enjoy the film, while following social distancing.

Well, this also means cars will need to run through the film, as there will be no centralized AC. In addition, guests will not be allowed to leave their vehicles at any cost, except for when they need to use the restroom. The new drive-in cinema is launched in collaboration with Urban Entertainment, the brain behind UAE’s outdoor cinemas.

Movie Schedule For The Next Week

July 2- Crazy Rich Asians at 8 pm
July 3- Toy Story at 8 pm
July 4- Black Panther at 8 pm

Besides, movie buffs can also enjoy Arabic films like the Egyptian comedy ‘Zaki Chan’, screened on July 5.

All the necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of staff and guests and fans were able to experience movies on the big screen once again.

Movie lovers can enjoy watching movies from the safety and comfort of their car with screenings on the Mall rooftop. The experience will open to the public on Sunday 17 May.

Visitors access the new theatre via Sheikh Zayed Road, when you take Exit 39 heading towards Abu Dhabi. However, going by the current restrictions, kids between 3-12 years and adults aged 60 will not be permitted to enter.
