UK Adds UAE To The Red List, Direct Flights Between The Nations Temporarily Suspended

The UAE has been added to UK’s red list from today, January 29. Britain, which banned UAE travel to curb the spread of the new South African variant of the covid-19 virus, has now banned direct flights between the countries. The latest notification was confirmed by Dubai Airport. Here’s everything you must know about it.

Direct Flights Between UAE And UK Now Stand Suspended Till Further Notice

Dubai airports confirmed that direct flights are now temporarily suspended until further notice. Starting today, from 5 PM GST (1 PM GMT), passengers who have been or transited through the UAE will not be allowed to enter the UK.

British, Irish and third-country nationals with residency in the UK will be allowed to enter the nation, but they will have to isolate for ten days at home after arriving in the country. For British nationals, who are planning to travel to the UK, they can do so until the deadline, since after this only indirect flights will be possible for them.

UAE Ministry Has Announced Free Visa Extensions For British Travellers

In terms of direct flights, they will be suspended between the UK and UAE until further notice. To ensure that not many people suffer because of this decision, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that British travellers in the UAE affected by this decision will have their visit visas extend free of charge.

Meanwhile, the move to stop direct flights and ban travel will affect more than 240,000 British nationals residing in the UAE. While many travel plans will also get affected.
