Oman Bans Public Gatherings Till Further Notice Amid Rise In The Covid Cases

Oman has now announced an indefinite ban on public and private gatherings amid the rise in the covid-19 cases in the sultanate. Authorities in Oman responsible for handling covid-19 pandemic said that this ban includes educational institutions, weddings, conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Oman Has Banned Public And Private Gathering To Curb The Spread Of Covid-19 Virus 

While announcing the decision, the committee pointed out that non-compliance with coronavirus precautionary measures, such as wearing face masks and observing social-distancing rules, has led to this decision. To curb the situation, Oman has already shut its land and air borders until February 1- however, the sultanate is time and again advising people against travelling abroad on official or private trips.

The Sultanate Reported 167 New Covid-19 Cases And One Death On Thursday 

The new measures took the locals by surprise, and many people now have to now cancel their previous engagements, which not only will cost them time but will also lead to financial loses. However, with the cases on the rise, this seems like the only way to handle the situation. In the past, curtailment of gatherings was effective in bringing down case numbers in Oman. Hence, this time too, the government has decided to get the same measures in place.

In terms of covid-19 cases in Oman, the ministry on Thursday reported 167 new covid-19 cases. Oman now has 133,574 while 1,525 people have died. Meanwhile, in terms of covid, UK has now banned travel from UAE amid the spread of the new South African strain. The ban, which will affect 240,000 British Nationals in UAE will come in place from today.
