UK Trains To Get Fuelled By Human Waste & Discarded Food In The Future

The future of the global transportation industry lies in biofuel and zero carbon emissions. Countries across the globe are taking steps to ensure this. Indian Railways is all set to become the world’s first 100% electric railways with zero carbon emissions by 2030. And now, the UK trains will get fuelled by human waste and discarded food in the future. The BioUltra train will carry 120 passengers and it’s a government initiative to cut down on air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Read on to know more.

The UK To Get BioUltra Train Powered By Human Waste & Discarded Food

Britain will soon introduce trains fuelled by discarded food and human waste as an initiative to remove dirty diesel engines. The new lightweight, low cost, ‘BioUltra’ train can carry 120 passengers at a time. This train will cut down on air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Powered by biomethane, a renewable gas made from organic waste, this is one heck of an eco-friendly train. According to The Daily Mail, the ‘BioUltra’ train is the brainchild of a team of engineers led by the Ultra Light Rail Partners based in Worcester.

This Eco-Friendly Train Will Cut Down On Air & Noise Pollution

This unique train will be able to replace noisier, polluting and less efficient diesel trains. The UK government had earlier announced plans to turn to alternative fuel sources for railways by 2040.  This includes fuel sources like hydrogen, biogases and battery-powered trains. Biomethane fuelled trains will not emit toxic nitrogen dioxide and or foul smell. The 66 feet long train shall run at a top speed of 50 mph. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this new train will have health safety features like virus killing chopping surfaces, robust ventilation, plastic shields and UV lighting. This will be one of the cleanest forms of public transport and will support the fight against climate change. Meanwhile, here are gorgeous Indian luxury trains for a wonderful journey.
