Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget 2024 today and she has made some big announcements for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. For Bihar, the FM has announced expressways and road connectivity projects worth ₹26,000 crore, along with other significant infrastructure projects. Andhra Pradesh will also receive a massive financial assistance package. Read on for all the details.

Significant Infrastructure Development Projects For Bihar In Budget 2024

To give Bihar a significant infrastructural boost, FM Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated ₹26,000 crore during Budget 2024 for expressways and road connectivity projects in the state. She also announced new airports, medical colleges, and industrial nodes for Bihar.

This includes connectivity projects like Patna-Purnea Expressway, Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway, road projects like a 2-lane bridge over the Ganga River In Buxar, and more roads in Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Darbhanga. According to a report in Times of India, the government will also set up airports, medical colleges, and sports infrastructure in Bihar. Another significant announcement for Bihar in Budget 2024 included the construction of an industrial node in Gaya. This will be developed on the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor.

During her speech, the FM also announced a comprehensive plan named ‘Purvodaya’. This is a development project to promote overall development in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

Special Financial Support Announced For Andhra Pradesh

For Andhra Pradesh, FM Nirmala Sitharaman allocated a special financial support of ₹15,000 crore. This aid is in line with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and will support the development of Amravati as Andhra Pradesh’s capital. According to the FM’s speech, “Money to be raised from multilateral funding agencies and routed through the Centre.”

Budget 2024 also allocated over ₹3 lakh crore for schemes benefiting women and girls in Andhra Pradesh. The FM also mentioned that they will help the state complete the Polavaram irrigation project and provide the necessary infrastructure and finance for the project.
