These food courts serve an impressive array of options catering to all dietary preferences, from local delicacies to international favourites, making it easy to indulge in a variety of flavours.
For vegetarians, finding a delicious and affordable meal in Singapore is never a challenge. Little India in Singapore is well known for its vibrant culture and authentic Indian cuisine, making it a go-to spot for delicious vegetarian food. While exploring the area’s colourful streets during our recent vegetarian food expedition, we stumbled upon Podi & Poriyal—a hidden gem serving South Indian vegetarian dishes with a contemporary twist.
Featured in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2024, the restaurant’s name reflects its dedication to the spicy ground lentil condiment podi and sautéed vegetables poriyal. Signature dishes include “Which Podi? Idli”—steamed rice cakes tossed in podi and served with cashew and coconut chutney—and the Podi Dosai, filled with poriyal. You also have to try the Jackfruit Biryani, a flavourful and aromatic vegetarian twist on the classic biryani, and the Avocado Papad—a crunchy, tangy creation that perfectly complements the rich flavours of their South Indian offerings.
Curly Tales Pro Tip: Visit during lunch hours to try their thali-style meals, offering a variety of flavours with a menu that changes weekly. Their wholesome menu also features a special kids’ menu, making it a perfect spot for a family lunch.
