We often hear about boat accidents that leave many people injured and some dead. Now, another major boat accident has shaken the nation. An accident was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, where a boat capsized in the Yamuna River, leading to multiple casualties. Read to know what happened!
Boat Accident In Uttar Pradesh
The boat incident took place late on Wednesday night. It was carrying nine members of a family when it unexpectedly overturned in the Yamuna River. Five people, including a woman, two girls, and two boys lost their lives in the accident. One child is still missing, and search operations are underway. According to Hindustan Times, the deceased have been identified as Akanksha (9), Rani (9), Labhyansh (5), Mahesh (6), and Brijrani (25).
According to officials, the group had attended a wedding ceremony at the house of Deshraj Nishad in a village. After the function, they crossed the Yamuna River by boat. They had gone to the other side of the river to collect and eat fruits like wood apple, cucumber, watermelon, and muskmelon.
Vishnu Nishad, his wife, and their seven children, began their return journey by boat after collecting the fruits. However, in the middle of the river, the boat lost its balance, and all nine people fell into the water.

Three Family Members Survived The Accident
As the boat overturned, Vishnu Nishad and one child managed to swim to safety. Hindustan Times reported that local fishermen also acted quickly and rescued another child from the river. These three, Vishnu, Rinku, and Parul, survived the accident.
However, the situation turned serious as the others went missing. Soon after the incident, local authorities received information and rushed to the spot in Uttar Pradesh. Police teams, along with district administration officials, immediately started rescue operations. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) also joined the search. Divers have been deployed to look for the missing child in the river.
Officials have also advised people to stay away from riverbanks during rescue work, as the water flow and conditions remain difficult.
