At the age of 98 years, you’d probably think that forget about working, even walking around your own home can be a tiring task. But not 98-year-old Vijay Pal Singh from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. In a viral video, this man was seen preparing and selling channa chaat on the street to earn his livelihood. When a customer asks him for the reason for working at his age, he said it’s not really a compulsion. He works to stay fit as he can’t stay idle at his home. His humility and his reason for working with a smile on his face inspired many Twitteratis, garnering hundreds of views, likes and comments.

98-Year-Old Vijay Pal Singh Gets Awarded By UP Government For Being Self Reliant

An ANI report also suggests that the Uttar Pradesh government felicitated Vijay Pal Singh for his self-reliance at the age of 98. The government invited him to the District Magistrate’s office and awarded him with ₹11,000 in cash, a walking stick, a shawl and a ration card. District magistrate Vaibhav Shrivastava informed OpIndia, “Baba has a gram (channa) shop. He was called here. He already has a house under the PM Awas Yojana. Here the Patra Grahasti card and other support were provided to him. He is a source of inspiration for all of us and hasn’t set up a shop under any compulsion. But because he remains self-reliant which is a good message. All of us need Baba’s blessings.”
