US Ambassador Devours An “Incredible” Maharashtrian Meal; Saoji Mutton Is His Fav!

Trust Indian food to always win the hearts of foreign delegates to India. Recently, the US ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti feasted on a lavish Maharashtrian meal. And he couldn’t help but take to social media to document his “incredible meal”. What was the menu? Everything you could think of? What was his favourite? It was the Saoji Mutton!

US Ambassador To India Goes On A Maharashtrian Culinary Journey

The US ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti took to Twitter to share a video of him visiting Maharashtra Bhawan, an authentic Maharashtrian restaurant in New Delhi. His caption suggests that he’s come all the way from the bustling streets of LA to the colourful lanes of Delhi, bringing along his love for great food. At Maharashtra Bhawan, the US ambassador is eager to explore the fascinating flavours of India.

He further asked Twitteratis to join him on his journey as he samples the essence of India, one state at a time. In the video, Mr Garcetti with the help of his three colleagues from Maharashtra first tries out the refreshing Kokum Sherbat and pairs it with Vada Pav. He calls the Vada Pav, a Mumbai Slider and makes his colleagues laugh. Then, he tries the traditional fasting dish, Sabudana Khichdi.

From Saoji Mutton To Aamras, He Tries Them All!

The US ambassador goes on to try Bharli Vangi, a stuffed brinjal dish. And then tucks into the Saoji Mutton, which his colleague explains is a hidden recipe from Nagpur, which people won’t find easily in restaurants. Eric Garcetti goes on to call Saoji Mutton “incredible” and wonders why it’s hidden. We’re drooling already for this spicy mutton dish!

The foodies end the meal with a bowl of cold Aamras, and a plate of Puranpoli drizzled with ghee. He jokes that his fourth course will be a nap. Like duh! He goes on to call his meal “incredible” and announces his favourite dish to be Saoji Mutton. The US ambassador to India next plans to visit Gujarat and Mahrashtra.
