With impediments to the darshan, the Uttarakhand government has decided to put a total ban on mobile phones and cameras in the Char Dham temple complex in the state.

In the first of its kind, the Uttarakhand government has officially banned mobile phones and cameras inside Char Dham temples. The temple complexes in Uttarakhand’s Char Dham pilgrimage route have cracked down on reels and videos being filmed. For this, mobiles and cameras will no longer be allowed inside these temple complexes.

No Mobile Phones & Cameras At Char Dham Temples

As per a report by NDTV, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey held a review meeting with district magistrates, senior superintendents of police and department officials of the districts concerned. After the meeting, Pandey revealed to reporters that permitting mobile phones and cameras into the temple complexes has caused a lot of problems in the darshan.

With impediments to the darshan, the Uttarakhand government has decided to put a total ban on mobile phones and cameras in the Char Dham temple complex in the state. Pandey revealed to NDTV that the Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage. He added that this is a place people head to with devotion. The Commissioner stated that devotees will be asked to submit their mobiles and cameras before walking into the temple for darshan.

Special Counter To Submit Devices

Once they leave the temple, people can take back their phones and videos from the counter. Moreover, they can click photos and videos with the temple in the background. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey also informed that the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee has received special instructions. They have been specially directed to ensure special arrangements are put in place within temple complexes for the safekeeping of devotees’ cameras and mobile phones.

Moreover, the commissioner added that over 50 lakh devotees have visited Uttarakhand’s four Dhams. Namely, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri during the previous pilgrimage season. To make the pilgrimage easier and smoother for devotees, the government will make efforts this pilgrimage season.

So, if you’re going for the Char Dham Yatra, remember to submit your mobile phones and cameras the counter before walking into the temple complexes.
