Whenever we think of taking a trip in India, Uttarakhand is one state that instantly comes to mind. Be it the serene Rishikesh and Nainital or the picturesque Mussoorie and Auli, the hill stations of Uttarakhand are at the heart of Indian tourism. In the latest episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, enjoyed a delightful and authentic Pahadi meal with none other than the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami. In this exciting episode, we visited his residence in Dehradun to learn about Pahadi culture, the CM’s childhood, his journey into politics, and his future plans for boosting tourism in Uttarakhand. It was truly an insightful episode, and if you want to know more, tune in to the full episode on the Curly Tales YouTube channel.

Pushkar Singh Dhami Shared A Scary Yet Amusing Story From His Childhood

After indulging in an elaborate feast of homemade Pahari dishes like Chainsoo, Jhangore Ki Kheer, and more, we spoke with Pushkar Singh Dhami about his journey into politics. He revealed that it was in 1990 that he became a political worker in Uttar Pradesh, driven by a strong desire to contribute to his country.

Later in the episode, we delved into Pushkar Singh Dhami’s childhood and asked if there was any incident from his early years that still makes him laugh. He shared a hilarious yet nerve-wracking story from when he was in fourth grade. One night, he woke up to use the washroom and, upon stepping outside his room, felt a tiny insect crawling up his leg.

As it climbed up his thigh, he flicked it away, only to realise it wasn’t a tiny insect but a full-fledged snake! Terrified, he rushed back into his room and slept without telling anyone, fearing he’d be scolded by his mother. Even today, this incident both scares and amuses him when he looks back.

During the episode, we also discussed tourism in Uttarakhand at length. We asked CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to suggest some lesser-explored places in the state that Indians should visit. While most people choose to explore popular destinations like Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Dehradun, and Jim Corbett National Park, he encourages them to explore gems like Adi Kailash, Munsiyari, and other hidden treasures of the state.
