A tragic accident was reported in the Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand on Saturday. A tempo carrying 23 passengers fell into a deep gorge just a few hours back. The unfortunate incident occurred along the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway close to the Alakananda River. Many sustained injuries and some have tragically passed away. A Tempo Fell Into A Gorge With Passengers On Board

Taking to X, Guljinder Singh (Gavy Singh) (@GuljinderGavy) shared a video of the heartwrenching incident reported in Rudraprayag.

According to several reports, about 10 people have already died in this life-threatening accident. The passengers were travelling to Chopta on the vehicle, according to a report by Business Standard. It was about 11:30 in the morning when the accident took place. Unfortunately, the sudden traumatising fall into the gorge led to a devastating situation.

SK Chakraborty (@sanjoychakra) shared a video of the ongoing rescue operations at the spot.

Around 15 people have faced injuries in the accident near the Alakananda River. The rescue teams shifted these injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. The number of deceased in this incident can further increase. Manikant Mishra, State Disaster Response Force commandant, stated that multiple passengers sustained severe injuries. Their present health conditions are quite critical.

THE SQUADRON (@THE_SQUADR0N) took to the X platform to share a video of the horrifying accident.

The reason behind the accident and the minibus falling into a gorge is not confirmed yet. Local administration, the State Disaster Response Force, and the police are looking after the rescue operations. They reached the accident spot at the earliest and started rescuing everyone. A few people were standing on the roadside. According to a report by NDTV, they faced injuries too.

Chief Minister Expressed Grief About The Incident

Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, tweeted about the accident reported in the state. Calling it “very sad news”, he shared that local administration and SDRF teams are working on relief and rescue operations. He further added that the District Magistrate has been ordered to start an investigation on this tempo accident,
