Indian Railways’ new Vande Bharat train set has completed a high-speed trial at 180 kmph on the Mathura-Nagda section. The 16-coach Vande Bharat Chair Car train set was manufactured at Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala, Punjab.
Vande Bharat Train Completes 180 Kmph Trial
According to the Ministry of Railways, the trial was conducted on October 8, 2026, under the supervision of the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS). The inspection assessed the train’s high-speed performance, operational efficiency and safety systems. During the trial, railway safety officials evaluated the trainset’s performance at 180 km/h and checked key safety parameters. The train features an advanced propulsion system designed to support high-speed operations.
However, completing a trial at 180 kmph does not mean the train will run at that speed during regular services. Its permitted operating speed will depend on safety approvals and operational requirements. The train set has a design speed of 180 kmph and an operating speed of 160 kmph, according to the provided specifications.
