Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway is an upcoming expressway which promises to make travel quicker and easier. Also known as the Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway, this roadway will reduce the time taken to travel between Varanasi and Kolkata. As a matter of fact, it has been reduced to a mere seven hours! It will also connect Ranchi to Varanasi and Kolkata. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular upcoming expressway.

The Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway will have six lanes and is a greenfield access-controlled expressway. It promises to significantly reduce the time taken to travel between Kolkata and Varanasi, almost by half!

Where it took around 12 to 14 hours to travel between the two cities, with this upcoming expressway, it will only take six or seven hours to cover the distance. The total length of the expressway will be around 610 kilometres.

The package-I of the project is estimated to cost around ₹1,317 crores. The cost of the entire expressway is estimated to be around ₹35,000 crores. If reports are to go by, the estimated date of completion of this project is 2026.

Other Important Details That You Would Need To Know About It

It will weave through Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and end in West Bengal. According to an article which was recently published by India.com, the foundation stone for the first package will be laid by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi.

This expressway will be named NH319B as per a notification issued by the NHAI. NHAI stands for the National Highway Authority of India. It is being built under the Bharatmala Pariyojana or BMP program and will be parallel to the NH-19.
