Researchers at China’s National University of Defence Technology (NUDT) tested an experimental maglev vehicle and pushed it to a top speed of 700 km/h. India. Com reported that the 1.1-ton vehicle reached this speed in just 2 seconds on a 400-metre test track. After hitting the maximum speed, the team slowed it down and stopped it safely. This showed strong control and precision during the trial.
The test highlights major progress in advanced technology. The system uses a powerful electromagnetic force to move the vehicle. Stable electric systems keep it balanced and guided on the track. High-power energy storage and strong superconducting magnets support the entire setup. Because of this design, the vehicle floated a few centimetres above the track instead of running on wheels. This reduced friction and vibration and allowed smooth travel at very high speeds.

Breaks Previous Record
The test broke the earlier maglev speed record of 648 km/h set in July 2025. This achievement shows how quickly China is pushing the limits of ultra-high-speed ground transport. According to India. Com, Professor Li Jie of NUDT said the breakthrough goes beyond trains. He explained that superconducting maglev technology could support future systems like hyperloop networks. It could also help rockets and aircraft with faster initial acceleration, saving fuel and improving efficiency.
This record-breaking test marks an important step in China’s high-speed transport journey. It shows the country’s growing strength in advanced train technology. With this success, China is also opening new possibilities for future transport and aerospace systems.
