Tourists from far and wide have been flocking to this ancient city, eager to witness the majestic temple and immerse themselves in its rich cultural heritage. Among the many preparations made was the renovation of the Ayodhya Dham railway station, a crucial gateway for the throngs of pilgrims and tourists making their way to the city. The station was given a fresh new look, with modern facilities and amenities put in place to cater to the influx of travellers.
However, as is often the case, the euphoria of the moment was short-lived. Reports began to surface of litter strewn about, unsanitary conditions, and a general lack of cleanliness plaguing the once-pristine station. Then came the tipping point—a viral video shared by an observant X user (previously known as Twitter) named Realty Piller—that exposed the grim reality of the situation. In the video, people could be seen sleeping outside the station amidst piles of garbage. Inside, trash was scattered haphazardly and unsightly paan stains marred the floors.

The video sparked outrage and prompted swift action from the authorities. The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lucknow wasted no time in addressing the issue head-on. He announced a hefty fine of ₹50,000 on the sanitation contractor responsible for the station’s upkeep. Additionally, they shared images and videos of the station after it had been thoroughly cleaned.
The DRM’s announcement drew a mixed response from the public. Some applauded the decisive action taken, while others questioned why such negligence was allowed to occur in the first place.
In the end, the incident served as a wake-up call for Ayodhya and its residents. It was a reminder that maintaining the city’s newfound prosperity and prestige would require constant vigilance and collective effort.
