Bengaluru’s one8 Commune Booked For Tobacco Law Violation
According to The Economic Times, Virat Kohli’s one8 Commune is in trouble again! In December, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued a notice to the restaurant for not securing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department. Last July, the police filed an FIR against the establishment for operating beyond the permitted hours. After several complaints by nearby residents, the police noted that the restaurant stayed open past 1 AM and played loud music.
Now, the Cubbon Park Police has filed a case against one8 Commune for the absence of a designated smoking area within the restaurant premises. According to the police, the restaurant is violating the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). They have filed a case under Sections 4 and 21 of the Act. The pub is situated on the sixth floor of Ratnams Complex, near the famous Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Here’s All You Need To Know About This
As per reports, following a tip, the police conducted a surprise inspection at Virat Kohli’s one8 commune. It is located hardly 200 meters from the police station and found that the pub did not have a dedicated smoking area, as required by law. Following that, the manager and staff were booked for non-compliance.
According to the police team, this action is part of a wider enforcement drive across Bengaluru. The authorities wish to ensure adherence to public health and safety regulations, and these steps are a way to achieve that goal. In fact, BBMP also launched an awareness campaign urging shopkeepers and commercial establishments to obtain the necessary licenses for selling tobacco products. If they fail to comply, legal action will be taken against them.
