Dubai International Airport is known for being the busiest international hub that has previously welcomed 86.9 million passengers, just in 2023. But did you ever imagine that Iftar could be taking place at its runway? Well, against the backdrop of flights taking off, the first-ever Iftar on the runway took place for a group of employees at the Dubai International Airport. Here’s all about it!

First Runway Iftar At Dubai International Airport

Yes, you read that right, the first-ever runway Iftar took place at Dubai International Airport for a group of employees. Symbolising a sense of community and coming together of different cultures, this was shared in a video by DXB. Yes, the airport took to its official account on X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of the staff, belonging to several nationalities sitting together at the Iftar table. This table was on the Tarmac and they were seen placing customary Ramadan treats. These included dates, refreshing beverages, traditional Arabic dishes, fruits, and sweets.

A Group Of Employees Took Part In This Celebration

In fact, the fast-breaking or Iftar took place as the sunset in the background and the employees in the video can be seen sharing the stories and forging some precious memories, as they passed around delicious food and drinks.

As it happens, this initiative was a part of the commitment to promoting inclusivity and cultural understanding, as reported by the Khaleej Times.
