Hello Curly Tales family, we’re back with yet another Sunday Brunch episode and this time it’s musical and spiritual. In the latest episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, had a pretty fun and devotional day out with none other than Rishab Rikhiram Sharma. Their day out started with a visit to Babulnath Temple, and ended with a delectable lunch. Rishab Rikhiram Sharma talked about a lot of things, including his connection with Lord Shiva. Read on to know more about his connection with the God.

Rishab Rikhiram Sharma On His Connection With Lord Shiva

While sitting inside the Babulnath Temple, Kamiya asked Rishab about his connection with Lord Shiva and how it reflects in his bhajans. To which he recalled his childhood and stated how his mother and father had been devoted to the deity, since the beginning. He also revealed that his father used to talk in such a way that he used to find it fascinating. He also recalled how his father used to do puja every day, without fail. He said, “My parents built those value systems in the house.”

He further added, “I saw that Lord Shiva kept coming in different forms in my life. Like, for my guru, his name was Pandit Ravi Shankarji. So Shankar was his name, too. My mother also followed a guruji who was believed to be like an avatar of Shiva. He was in some form or another. He was just waiting for me to bless him so that he could sing songs about me.”

Rishab spent half of his life in New York and the other half in Delhi. When he was asked about the values that he still carries in New York. He revealed how he became more Indian after moving out of India. Talking about the same, he stated, “See, people around us, they just fancy the western life, the western culture, the western music. But when I moved out, I saw that it’s very hollow.” 

He further talked about Indian culture, “Our culture is so rich. That sense of pride has awakened in me. As a performer, when you’re on stage, it’s so important that you’re completely present in whatever you are doing.”
