The entire aviation world is in shock after hearing the terrifying news of a Singapore Airlines flight encountering strong turbulence at 11,300 metres mid-air. According to several reports, the flight was carrying passengers from London to Singapore but the situation was so harsh that the pilots had to request an emergency landing. Singapore Airlines Flight Was Carrying 211 Passengers & 18 Cabin Crew

It was on Tuesday when the flight departed from the Heathrow airport in London. While the journey on the Boeing 777-300ER began smoothly, it fell into an air pocket after some time. The crew was busy assisting passengers by providing them with their breakfast and this was when the plane fell into an air pocket, Kittipong Kittikachorn, the general manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport shared.

Right after this, it was hit by strong turbulence over the Irrawaddy Basin in Myanmar. With no other options in hand, the pilots had to decide on an emergency landing at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport stated that the pilots requested an emergency landing at 3:35 PM (local time). The flight landed at the runway at 3:51 PM (local time). Unhurt passengers later boarded another plane to fly to their destination.

According to a report by Telegraph India, 30 people suffered from injuries and 1 passenger passed away unfortunately. Singapore Airlines announced the demise of a 73-year-old man and the reason behind the shocking news is expected to be suffering from a heart attack. Among the 30 injured passengers, 7 were injured in their heads quite severely. Eighteen were rushed to nearby hospitals soon for treatment. And twelve of them are still in hospitals undergoing treatment.

The Airline CEO Apologised
Tuesday’s incident concerning the Singapore Airlines flight has left people concerned and a bit scared. The news of an elderly passenger passing away has shocked all. Goh Choon Phong, the CEO of Singapore Airlines, apologised following the traumatising incident of SQ321. He expressed his deepest condolences to the family members and loved ones of the deceased. He said that the airline is very sorry for everything that happened on board.
Taking to Facebook, the airline shared that 5 passengers will be catching a flight to return to Singapore on Wednesday. Tomorrow, a crew member will fly to Singapore. Presently, a total of 74 flyers and 6 crew members are in Bangkok. Some of them are under treatment and the rest are their family, friends, and loved ones.
