What Is Uttarakhand’s New Homestay Booking Portal? Here’s How To Use It

Uttarakhand has majestic Himalayan peaks, serene landscapes, and a rich cultural heritage. The state has long been a favoured destination for tourists seeking adventure, spirituality, and natural beauty. In a bid to enhance the tourism experience and promote local economies, Uttarakhand Tourism recently launched an innovative homestay booking portal.

What Is Uttarakhand’s Homestay Booking Portal?

Uttarakhand’s diverse tourism offerings attract a wide range of visitors, from trekkers and pilgrims to nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. However, one of the challenges the state has faced is ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach the local communities.

To book homestays in the state, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board has established an online booking system. You can now make reservations for homestays in Uttarakhand by visiting www.uttarastays.com. This is most likely the first state tourism department initiative of its kind to develop a state-sponsored homestay booking service. By supplying details about their homestays and signing an agreement for the same, homestay operators can integrate their stays on the platform. There are no costs, platform fees, or revenue-sharing percentages that the homestay operators must pay to Uttarakhand Tourism.

According to the Tourism Development Board, the portal would give the public accurate information on homestays and a seamless mechanism for making online reservations. Consumers have the option to rate homestays on the website. Moreover, this enables the homestays to receive immediate feedback on their offerings and be motivated to enhance them.

The Department of Uttarakhand Tourism has nearly 5,000 homestays registered. The program is an attempt to give small homestay owners an internet booking platform. The Deendayal Upadhyay Homestay Scheme offers subsidies from the tourism department to encourage the growth of homestays in the area. Homestay owners are also given training in a variety of subjects and services to improve their customer service abilities. In the future, homestays will be connected to wellness centres in their local communities so that visitors may take advantage of services like yoga, naturopathy, and ayurvedic massages.

Additionally, the homestay portal highlights these lesser-known destinations, encouraging travellers to venture beyond the popular tourist spots. The launch of the homestay booking portal marks a significant step towards inclusive tourism in the state.
