On Luxe Life, a show anchored by Sneha Menon Desai on The Hollywood Reporter India (THR), gives a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous. The first episode delved into Bollywood’s famous private jet culture. In an interview, Maria Charles, the Director of Skyline Charters, and Desai helped gain an understanding of how our favourite Bollywood stars like to fly.
She boarded the 13-seater Legacy 600 Executive Jet Aircraft, which has become increasingly popular amongst Bollywood celebrities. Skyline Charters is a go-to company amongst the who’s who of the Hindi film industry for luxury travel. The company arranges charter flights for numerous film industry personalities.
Starting with the booking process, Maria Charles revealed to THR that there’s no fixed time limit to book a charter flight. There have been cases when her clients needed a flight arranged in two hours. But keeping in mind the pilot’s availability, catering, and flight arrangement, two hours would be a fair window to book a flight with Skyline Charters over the phone.

Short Check-In Time, Personalised Meals & More
Private jets with Skyline charters cost anywhere between ₹18-₹30 lakhs plus GST for popular routes like Mumbai-Delhi. Unlike commercial flights, one cannot book just a seat on a private jet. Rather, the entire flight is booked for the journey. The luxury travel experience comes with a stream of benefits. Firstly, your favourite stars arrive at the airport just 15 minutes before boarding a domestic charter flight and 45 minutes before an international departure. They send their luggage for check-in with the concierge before they arrive at the airport.
Since charter planes are located in a private terminal, charter fliers don’t need to go through the tedious process of check-in and boarding, unlike commercial plane travellers. No waiting in line or arriving at the airport hours before boarding. Secondly, the private charter planes come with plush seats that transform into comfortable beds, allowing the rich and elite to rest and rejuvenate mid-air.
While chartered planes allow greater privacy and efficiency to fliers, it does lag behind commercial planes by 15-20 minutes. But add to it the luxurious experiences that come with it, and the short time difference doesn’t weigh heavily. On charter planes, fliers are treated to exquisite Indian and global delicacies curated to their tastes.
Maria Charles reveals to THR that some of her clients’ favourite foods on her charter flights include Kheema Pav, Hummus with Pita Bread, Biryani and continental breakfasts. Bollywood celebrities usually fly early in the morning and return in the evening. So, they prefer tucking into breakfasts, lunches and tea during their journey.
