In a colourful blend of tradition and global presence, Miss World 2025 contestants recently visited the iconic Ramappa Temple in Telangana. Nestled in the village of Palampet, this 13th-century marvel captured the attention of 35 international delegates who took part in a heritage tour during their stay in India. The visit was part of a broader cultural showcase organised by the Telangana government
Ramappa Temple: A Kakatiya-Era Marvel
Built in 1212 CE during the reign of Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva, the Ramappa Temple—also known as Rudreshwara Temple—stands as a masterpiece of medieval Indian architecture. What sets it apart is the use of floating bricks, made from a lightweight porous material that allows them to float on water. These bricks reduced the structure’s overall weight while adding resilience, an innovation that speaks volumes of the engineering expertise of the time.

The temple’s base is constructed in a star-shaped design with beautifully carved pillars, mythical figurines, and intricate ceilings. In 2021, UNESCO granted the temple World Heritage Site status, praising its artistic excellence and structural ingenuity.
A Heritage Highlight For Miss World 2025 Delegates
As part of their India tour, 35 Miss World contestants visited the temple dressed in traditional sarees, offering prayers and taking part in Telangana’s local customs. According to Hindustan Times, the group also experienced regional festivals like Bathukamma and the Kommu Koya dance, blending global elegance with indigenous culture.

They also explored nearby sites, including the serene Ramappa Lake and the historic Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal, further immersing themselves in the state’s rich cultural fabric.
