Which Is India’s Favourite Beach Destination? Airbnb Study Says It’s….

Beach lovers, which is the first destination that comes to your mind when planning a beach getaway? It’s Goa, right? Well, perhaps, not anymore. An Airbnb study has revealed that Kerala has now toppled Goa to become the most sought-after beach destination in India. Read on to know more.

Airbnb Study Reveals Kerala Is India’s Most Sought-After Beach Getaway

A study conducted by the US-based rental platform Airbnb revealed that Kerala has now become a more popular beach getaway than Goa for Indians. The study reveals that Airbnb witnessed a whopping 375 per cent increase in travel searches for Kerala between Q3 2021 to Q3 2022. Goa which once stood at first place now came in second place with a 275 per cent increase in searches. And, Pondicherry bagged the third place with over 200 per cent increase in travel searches.

This can perhaps be due to the reason that the COVID-19 pandemic has left tourists seeking beach getaways that are less touristy and crowded. Kerala is often known for its serene beaches, calming Ayurvedic therapy retreats, delicious seafood and even ancient temples. It perhaps offers a breath of fresh air away from the overcrowded beaches and expensive seafood beach shacks and souvenir stalls in Goa.

Uttarakhand Is India’s Favourite Destination For Mountains

Meanwhile, when it comes to travellers who choose mountains over beaches, Uttarakhand witnessed over a 100 per cent increase in searches. And Himachal Pradesh witnessed a 50 per cent increase in searches during the same period. Well, this looks like the hill stations in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have a special place in the hearts of travellers.
