Turns out, the monsoon isn’t the off-season anymore. Monsoon travel in India is now becoming a hit and how! With a turbulent summer season, given the unrest in several popular vacation spots, July 2025 is turning into an unexpected sweet spot for travel. Bookings across India (and even beyond) are rising high. Travel platforms are achieving a 25-30% Year-On-Year (YoY) jump in flight bookings, proving that a little rain isn’t enough to drown out wanderlust.
Monsoon Travel In India: Demands Rise In Domestic Sites
As Rajnish Kumar, Group Co-CEO of ixigo, puts it, the post-summer travel itch is finally transforming into action. Airlines and hotels are rolling out pocket-friendly monsoon deals that are fueling spontaneous getaways and making vacations in monsoons a lot more tempting and exciting.
According to ixigo’s monsoon travel data, domestic hotspots like Port Blair witnessed a 65% surge in flight bookings for travel in July 2025, as compared to last year. Tirupati saw a 46% increase, Udaipur witnessed a 38% surge, and Coimbatore saw a 22% YoY increase in flight bookings. Monsoon travel in India is not merely a retreat, but it is transforming into a mix of culture, nature, and peaceful charm, now being served with a side of drizzle.

Bus Bookings Are Soaring
And it’s not just airports seeing the traffic. Rohit Sharma, COO of AbhiBus, says road travel is having its moment too. Monsoon favourites are pulling crowds in a big way. For example, Bekal in Kerala has seen a 100% spike in July bookings alone. That’s not a typo, that’s the truth and a rather exciting one! Meanwhile, perennial hill sites like Ooty (+32%) and Wayanad (+25%) are seeing the rise too. This monsoon, grey skies and green hills team up to create the perfect panoramic scenes for Indian travel lovers.
Vietnam & Thailand Are the Monsoon Favourites Abroad
Guess who is back in the news and on everyone’s vacation radar? Vietnam saw a 25% YoY increase in flight bookings for travel in July 2025. Following close behind, Thailand also reported a 24% surge. With Bangkok’s night markets that are a treasure trove for every traveller and Da Nang’s mellow coastline that gives you that perfect tab, these spots tick all the boxes. They are affordable, accessible, and perfect for riding out the Indian rain in tropical style.
