According to an article which was recently published by EuroNews, France has witnessed a significant decrease in the national and international demand for wines. Hence, in keeping with the shrinking demand, the officials have come up with a plan costing €120 million which is upwards of ₹11 crores.

The plan is to uproot more than 30,000 hectares of vineyards. As of now, France has around 800,000 hectares of land dedicated to vineyards. This particular plan was submitted by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and the Bordeaux Wine Interprofessional Counsel.

If reports are to go by, the decline in the industry is brought on by the newer generations that have brought about a change in the drinking habits of the country. This change is also egged on by Global Warming.

As the planet gets hotter, the weather conditions that gave French wines its superior quality will also change. Further, if the warmer climate brings about a drought, it could be quite detrimental to the crops.
