A woman took to X (formerly Twitter) to lash out at Air India for forgetting to load her luggage on the US-Bengaluru flight. As per her claim, the airline “never loaded” her suitcase on the plane. She then went on to mention that she had to try “40 times” to reach Air India and despite that, they still have not given her a delivery estimate. Read on to know more.
Woman Claims Air India Did Not Load Her Luggage On US-Bengaluru Flight
WTF @airindia. Took a direct flight sfo->blr yesterday and @airindia never loaded my suitcase on the plane. it’s been 36 hrs, and still no delivery estimate. And it took ~40 tries to get them to even pick up the phone. Going to a wedding tmrw and don’t have any clothes..

Pooja Kathail boarded a direct Air India flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru. She arrived in India and even had a wedding to attend in Bengaluru during her stay. However, as per her X (formerly Twitter) post, Air India did not load her luggage on the flight and she ended up without any clothes for the wedding she had to attend!
As per her post, Air India “never loaded” her luggage on the aeroplane and she could only get through their customer care after trying to reach them around “40 times.” She then mentioned that despite being 36 hours, the airline failed to give her a delivery estimate. Furthermore, she said that she had a wedding to attend on July 9 but she didn’t have any clothes fit to wear as her luggage was still missing.
Dear Ms. Kathail, we truly sorry for the delay and regret the inconvenience caused. Please DM us your PNR, PIR copy and bag tag for us to check with our airport/baggage team and get back to you with an update.
— Air India (@airindia) July 8, 2024
Air India apologised and responded to the post. They asked for all the necessary details to investigate the matter and help her further. However, as per Pooja Kathail’s latest tweet, they still have not updated her about her luggage status. Air India responded again and said that their team is looking into the matter and needs a little time “to gather the necessary information and provide an update.”
Netizens React & Share Their Two Cents
You cannot miss out on the comments section of this post. Some people shared their own experiences with Air India while others took a dig at the airline with sarcastic comments. From the looks of it, losing passenger luggage is quite common for Air India.
I have a flight tomorrow to San Francisco. I am now contemplating to ask my family to be lurk around Bangalore airport till the time I fly out and they confirm that the luggage is in the flight

It was the year 2007 and I flew to LA on an Air India flight. Just like you, my luggage failed to get loaded on the plane. When I got it finally after a week, the lock was broken and about 1500$ of camera equipment were gone.

This seems to be an everyday thing now. Family members flew SFO – BLR ladt week same story. Bags came after days after many continuous followup. Ppl book AI due to direct flight but now its becoming a nuisance that is not worth the advantage of direct flight

I filter out Air India from flight search options whenever I choose to fly domestic or international, direct or connecting.
I know some people have limited options due to budget and convenience but I would not trade it for my peace of mind.

Nothing new with AI they are infamous for loosing bags. Good luck

The same happened with my family as well on the YYZ – DEL flight on July 4. 134 bags were left in Toronto. This seems to be a systematic problem.

OMG! Air India is facing a lot of flak these days… Missing luggage on a direct flight is heights
— Raji Swaminathan 🇮🇳 (@rajiswamy) July 9, 2024
Why do you fly such an unreliable airline?
— Inderjeet Singh (@inderjeet101) July 8, 2024
File a claim as per US law irrespective of when and how these are delivered

@poojakathail this seems to be a feature than exception now, I got my bags after 5 days. It’s just ridiculous.
They had not loaded 350 bags on our flight. Delivery guy said they received 700 bags yesterday, not sure from how many days of pile up.

Someone even shared an “Airline losing most luggage right now” list in the comments and Air India topped that list! It is to be noted that the source of this list is unknown.

Seeing how many people and routes depend on Air India, such casual behaviour and repeated complaints are truly concerning. The airlines need to streamline their priorities and make sure that passengers don’t suffer. Share your thoughts on this in the comments
