In November 2022, Zomato was forced to pay a client ₹8,362 as compensation after failing to deliver an order. A student from Kerala recently purchased meals through Zomato, however, neither the order nor the reimbursement for the food was sent to him. The student further claimed that despite placing two separate orders on the same evening, none of them were delivered. A Kerala consumer court has now mandated that the delivery service pay the student ₹8,362 as compensation.

For people with late-night food cravings, online food aggregators are typically a one-stop shop. Online meal ordering might be simple, but it can occasionally become tiresome if the order isn’t delivered on time or is abruptly cancelled by the aggregator. One such incident involved a man by the name of Ajay Sharma in August 2022. He complained to Chandigarh’s State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, saying Zomato had cancelled his pizza order and failed to deliver it.

At 10:15 pm, Sharma claimed to have ordered pizza through Zomato and paid the price (about ₹287), which included the cost of on-time delivery.
