On Friday, November 28, PM Modi unveiled the towering 77-foot bronze-coloured statue of Lord Ram during his visit to Goa. The statue not only looks extremely beautiful but also marks the moment as a significant cultural milestone for the nation. According to a report by the Deccan Herald, the ceremony took place at the historic Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt in South Goa. Preparations for the unveiling had been underway for weeks. An X user, @DipuNanda, also posted images of the statue on their handle.
The world’s tallest Lord Ram statue is not only a tribute to Lord Ram but also gives Goa a new identity. The state, already popular for its beaches, can now expect a greater influx of tourists eager to see the statue. According to a report by India Today, the unveiling comes amid a series of programmes being held from November 27 to December 7 to celebrate 550 years of Mutt’s traditions. It should be noted that the Mutt premises at Partagali in Canacona were established 370 years ago. It is still known as a highly spiritual place in Goa.

Crafted By Sculptor Ram Sutar
According to the Deccan Herald, the statue is made entirely of bronze. It is not just visually grand but also highly durable. The sculptor behind the statue is Ram Sutar, who also designed Gujarat’s famous Statue of Unity. With this project, Ram Sutar adds another achievement to his successful career.
According to The Times of India, PM Modi also inaugurated the Ramayana Theme Park Garden on the premises, released a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin, and addressed the gathering. The entire area around the statue has been given a modern look while keeping its spiritual character intact.
