Food is a very sensitive topic for Indians. So, when this X (formerly Twitter) user claimed that Andhra Pradesh has the best dosas in India, we knew a spirited debate would erupt among the netizens. Foodies from Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad started defending their local favourites and here’s what the debate looked like.
X User Says Andhra Pradesh’s Dosas Are The Best In India
India needs to eat dosas from Andhra Pradesh
Dosas made anywhere else are overrated
TN makes the worst dosas and worst chutneys
Bangalore makes good dosas but chutneys arent upto the mark
But you get that best dosa and the best chutneys in Andhra Pradesh https://t.co/tTm072LUEI
— Bhavan | Protein Minister of India (@BhavanChand) March 31, 2025
An X user, @BhavanChand, restarted an old debate on social media recently–which place has the best dosas in India. The user claimed that “India needs to eat dosas from Andhra Pradesh” and began comparing dosas from different regions.
According to his post, the dosas “made anywhere else are overrated”. He then went on to say that Tamil Nadu “makes the worst dosas and worst chutneys.” And while Bangalore makes good dosas, the chutneys in the city don’t live up to the mark. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh, according to him, has the best dosa and the best chutneys as well.

I was lucky to be in TN some ten years back, visited many villages and had local food there. One of my best food experiences ever.

Come to my gully in Hyderabad you will find the best dosa just for 20 rs. I avoided it for one year since the price cheap. Once I started eating it. It’s highly unlikely to avoid it. Dosa and Chutney both rocks

Yeah. Andhra dosa and chutney is best because of the perfect spice level

Depends on the restaurant. The college in Chennai made a pretty bad dosa. But the Ghee roast dosa I ate from the restaurant (name was Sangeetha) was great.

I prefer neer dosa with gassi which is more of a Kudla variety.
But Bengaluru has more varieties of dosa due to cultural assimilation.
Since Bengaluru is home to people from all of the Southern States – TN, Kerala, AP, Telangana, and Karnataka, you have a much more varieties…

Costal Karnataka makes the best Dosa & actually i like Karnataka Chutne the most.
Bangalore has the best coffee.
Villages in North Kerala makes the best Sambar.
TN generally lags behind.

Andhra is the king of chutneys. You don’t need sambar there.
— Dr. Chandrashekhar (@chan_shek) March 31, 2025
Tamilnadu Sambar for dosa is very good, where as AP people make Peanut chutney and ginger chutney for dosa which are extremely good
— Srinivas Nettalam (@AlwaysBeeHappy) April 1, 2025
Best dosas come from Kerala. Try the masala dosas- ones with beet root + potato filling from Indian coffee houses or the ghee paper roasts or the set dosas, there are no parallels. Davangare benne dosas come a distant second. Hyderabad Chutneys come third for their MLA pesarattu
