In the latest episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani introduced the flavours of Indian street food to the internet’s favourite inventor – Mark Rober. Over some delicious chaat, the two talked about Mark’s journey and how he fell in love with science. Here’s how it went down.
Mark Rober Opens About How He Fell In Love With Science
An intrigued Kamiya asked Mark Rober when he started falling in love with science. Thinking for a second, he responded, “I think it started when I took physics in high school. I realised you could explain the world around you using math and equations. And I think that’s a beautiful thing. Like we could speak different languages, be from different cultures, but we could all agree that if I throw a ball up, we all know how many seconds it will take to reach the ground.”
“You could predict the future with it. Like we put a rover on Mars based on some equations and predicting what will happen, and then that happens. So, it’s like a crystal ball that actually works,” he elaborated.

Everything He Tried At Imlee
While talking about space and science, we made sure that Mark Rober also got to try the flavours of Indian street food. We hosted him at Imlee The Chaat Gali in Mumbai and we made him try dishes like Pani Puri, Pav Bhaji, Chole Bhature, Rani Kachori, Vada Pav, Singhada Chatpata, Lassi, and Jalebi.
The adventure started with some pani puri and after trying puchkas from Kolkata, pani puri from Mumbai, and gol gappas from Delhi, Mark Rober picked puchkas as his favourite. He also tried and liked all the street food but made sure to sip on the sweet lassi every now and then to ensure the spiciness didn’t get to him!
