You Can Turn Your Home Into An Airbnb In Abu Dhabi, And Here’s How!

Vacation houses are becoming more popular in the UAE. If you own a property in Abu Dhabi, you can capitalise on this trend by turning your villa or apartment into a holiday home. You must apply for permission from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism to register your villa or apartment as a vacation home (DCT). So, if you’re looking to supplement your income this summer, here’s all you need to know about the procedure and cost of obtaining a Holiday Home Licence from DCT Abu Dhabi.

How Can You Put Your Abu Dhabi Home On Airbnb?

There are three things you should consider before you start if you’re interested in offering your home as a vacation rental in Abu Dhabi:

To begin with, the residential unit must be entirely or partially registered in your name as the property owner registered as a vacation home. In Abu Dhabi, tenants cannot advertise their rental property as a vacation house.

Additionally, you need to apply for a holiday home permit through the DCT Abu Dhabi website before listing your house as a vacation rental on Airbnb. As a result of a Memorandum of Understanding reached between DCT and Airbnb in February of this year, only houses registered as vacation homes are permitted to be advertised on Airbnb.

The unit must be an integrated private home or apartment held by a private owner under DCT. It can’t be separate rooms.
